I try a lot of different methods and approaches when it comes to organizing information.

Recently, I've been using what I call Work Tags.

What is a Work Tag?

A Work Tag is just a Post-it. For me, I use a bright-orange color of Post-it, and I reserve that color just for Work Tags. Using a single, consistent color allows me to associate at a glance. Additional meaning is added when I use a Work Tag.

Format of the Work Tag

I use a list of Hashtags to describe what the item is and keywords to retrieve it later (perhaps via an augmented reality interface). Plus a text field for a time estimate.
