One List
I've used many tools, and I've come to the conclusion that the most important things are:
Keep one list.
And work from it diligently.
Higher-levels of capacity
Inevitably, the limits of a single list get pushed. Too many things to track tempt the creation of a second list, or additional app to track the excess, overflowing data. Don't. Create a longer list and at the bottom, feel okay with throwing stuff below the "Icebox" or "Somebody Maybe" markers.
Make all artifacts meaningful
Meaningful means:
- Identified as a task - ie:
reading - Identified as a reference
When creating a Reference. Think about what contexts you may want to retrieve it in. It is not necessary to be exhaustive, but give it a few seconds of good, honest thought, and tag it accordingly, to make its retrieval easier and more contextual in the future.
