My career has lead me toward software development as a great form of leverage to solve problems for people.

I'm not sure how to monetize it, but I know what a good user experience is as a citizen. And my experience gives me a unique perspective and understanding of inner workings of jurisdictional affairs. The public sector, as an industry, is an artificial bubble that won't survive society's inevitable push toward transparency and truly open data. Having an informed dialogue in our media requires we have rich, accurate, and meaningful public data streams for people to consume and more importantly, act upon.
