I was in Washington DC from mid-June through August 2010, working for Sunlight Foundation. Sunlight Foundation is the premier government transparency organization in the United States, and perhaps, the world. The focus of their work is primarily at the federal level; to publish information about government operations, educate and report findings to the public, and build tools to help make sense of it all.

The reason I went there was to learn how they are doing it and develop the connections necessary to do similar work starting in Solano County and eventually serving a broader region in Northern California. This is exactly why I founded MoreQuality: to improve the quality of our governing institutions by educating citizens about what goes on inside government.

To this end, MoreQuality has been incorporated in the State of California. Bylaws have been drafted by an initial Board of Directors, and 501(c)(3) nonprofit status is pending approval by IRS. However, this is just the start; only the formalities of becoming an organization.
