Today, after nearly 10 years, Ryan's Student Loan has passed away. Student Loan was born in 2004 at nearly $40,000 to cover expenses of Ryan's graduate studies. The Student Loan spent its life as a monthly personal reminder to Ryan of the strenuous cost and burden of borrowing money. Ryan responded by consciously paying additional principal as often as possible to counteract the Student Loan's natural, recurrent growth. During the harsh San Francisco winter, the loan's balance dwindled from a few thousand dollars to $0, at which point, it emitted its final billing statement, became paid in full, and vanished from existence.
