Creating a BSV Transaction

draft

This entry is about creating a BSV Transaction using the bsv javascript library, managed by Money Button.

Synfonaut was gracious to hop on with me for a chat and help me get through a basic transaction.

Despite having a background as a full-stack software developer, I found bitcoin's learning curve to be rather steep. Rather than dipping my toe in, I jumped in the deep end and found myself drowning in many concepts spanning the ladder of absraction.

  • I found Money Button, which is a delightful UI experience wrapping up BSV micropayments.
  • I found the Bitcoin docs which talk about Transaction (TX) details.
  • I found docs that discussed the mechanics and incentives of nodes in the mining network.
  • I found _unwriter's Planaria, which is a cool Mongo and Javascript application that listens to a node and creates a bit more than a cache to work from from a web app.
  • I read books that discussed some of these items, but in terms of BTC, which is tainted with information and opinions about the Lightning Network and Segwit; both of which don't apply to BSV.
  • I found a bunch of protocol level docs - B:/, AIP, BOB

And, this stuff is evolving very fast, so _unwriter's tools were changing every couple weeks, and new protocols were being announced, and importantly: more apps were being released.

So, this entry is also about consolidating a lot of disparate information and applying it.
