HOWTO: Install OpenGeo GeoServer on Amazon EC2

Note: This installation covers version 2.1.4 of GeoServer, which is a bit dated to the current 2.6+ release.

  1. Log into Amazon EC2
  2. You may need to setup key/pairs if you have not already
  3. Install/launch the academic geoserver AMI
  4. Add port 8080 to the assigned Instance's security group
  5. Visit your EC2address:8080/geoserver
    1. Login using admin/geoserver

I haven't found an AMI for a more current version of GeoServer, so please get in touch if you can lend a hand to create an AMI with GeoServer 2.6+.
