OpenGovWest in Seattle in Spring 2010 was an inspiration for what a community gathering could be. MoreQuality would like to convene similar experiences for citizens and public staff to collaborate and share. Below are notes that were helpful in shaping a compelling and engaging unconference experience. identify staff by providing name tags and shirts, sweatshirts, or pins provide name tags to attendees (provide stickers as an option) have good display signage around the block, at the entrance, at each sub-location at the venue, in transition areas, and within rooms. have good guidance material online, print handout, and a mechanism for persisting the effort (wiki) host succint and on-point keynote speakers enable birds of a feather sessions, where people can gather ad-hoc for discussions around shared interests. focus on a tangible outcome or result. convene session leaders to recap key points from each breakout.
