Weekend Update (again, on Monday) To-do's I still need to send an INTRODUCTIONS email this week to get us all acquainted with each other. Schedule a meeting for sometime in September. Determine whether to hold it at a location, or remotely, or a mix thereof. I have agreed to develop a few proposed narratives for the data from Octo DC, which Rick could use to develop for exhibit on the SimplerGov website. I have a few narratives drafted, but need to finalize that this week. New Items On Tuesday, August 3rd, I had a meeting with Ellen Miller, Executive Director & Nicole Aro, Lead Organizer regarding ideas for developing local awareness. At this meeting I gave an Summary Proposal to Ellen regarding the Wepublic.org project. After an initial, "we don't fund state-level or local projects", she asked for a full-proposal. Thursday, August 5th, I submitted a full proposal for the project. The proposal requests $477,500 over 2 years, for 2 full-time FTE's, $50,000 for volunteers, and substantial miscellaneous expenses, such as travel and marketing/promotion.
Potential grantor identified: Sloan Foundation - http://sloan.org. I signed up for the Amazon Affiliate program. The program allows us to place Amazon links on our website (http://morequality.org/start/resources). If people buy books through the link, we get a 4-6% referral bonus. If there are additional resources that are related to our cause, please send them over and I'll get them posted. The more links we post, the greater the percentage bonus. Updates The contract with e-Democracy will need to be in the form of a 1099 to MoreQuality. It cannot be labeled as a grant, per the conditions of Ford Foundation grant to e-Democracy. It will be good to show revenue generating capacity, although I was hoping it'd be our first 'grant'. Reaching out to agencies I've received 1 response so far on my public outreach effort here. I haven't been able to devote as On Hold TED fellowship Grant Proposals for Knight Foundation, MacArthur Foundation, and Omidyar Barry Taugher's nomination for Board membership.
