Thanks Phil.
Yes, I asked Ryan to draft something short E-Dem can ask Sunlight to fund for 10 or 20K from Ellen so Ryan can spend more intensive time on this. I thought I should pull you into the loop.

I've made a huge amount of progress with processing the census spatial boundary data and associated GID & GNIS data as well as getting all the appropriate infrastructure in place to do geospatial queries, so it should all be ripe to intgrate with ryans work. The only issue i'm having seems to be much like ryan's site, something (geoserver in this case) keeps crashing after a few hours, so i'm trying to work with my colleagues to diagnose it, so that the demo can stay up long enough for us to be able to integrate with ryan's data and website & so we can demo the whole stack for others.
Also, ryan if there's anything we can do to provide more robust servers to keep your site up please let me know.
It wasn't clear to me from this email if you'd already written a draft proposal, by my suggestion is that it includes phases to eventually roll out everything we've talked about, but in the near term we just build up demos for that with a few select locations.
Nick has been in touch with Stacey from omidyar lately, but he hasn't brought this up yet because last time they were supposed to talk she was interrupted by some kind of family emergency. I'll check in with him again tomorrow to see if anything has changed, but I see no harm in pursuing this through sunlight simultaneously.
I happen to be sitting in minneapolis for a brief moment right now for a layover on my way to speak at a conference in edmonton. Too bad i'm not here long enough for us to meet in person.
I'm not sure when is best for a call in my schedule the next few days, but let's just keep in touch. I know for sure that before 1pm or after 3pm on friday I should be free, but would be happy to try to connect before then
Best Phil
