I'm very observant, or self-aware about my work habits. After discovering GTD (Getting Things Done), my internally-focused attention to my "meta" work was justified; explained How do I spend my time? * Doing focused things * Thinking of new things to do * Organizing existing things to do * Doing extraneous things In each moment, I'm either incurring a time-debt by committing to things to do at a later date, or I'm paying down a time-debt by doing work, or organizing it in such a way that the organization constitutes necessary work. I also realized that I can spend time that neither contributes nor detracts from my time-debt, and that is when I'm spend time doing something that I did not budget for.
